Most music stores offer drum lessons. But when you get there you find a small room [more like a closet] with rubber pads. At some stores you may find several rubber pads set up to resemble a drum set with bass drum pedal. These rubber pads [practice pads] are one of the greatest tools for learning but they are no substitute. This is not playing drums. I offer a complete set of real drums for the student and one for myself. The drum sets are placed in-line with each other so teacher and student can talk, move and observe one another. Between the drum sets I placed a practice pad where teacher and student can do more detailed studies in hand movement. Teacher and student have access to headphones for music to be played while we drum. World-class drummers agree that playing along with records is a great way to learn. In place of music a metronome or "click" can be played through the headphones. A metronome or "click" is a tool to help drummers keep a steady beat and develop good time. A resource area is available for students. Here they have access to books, magazines and videos. A computer is also available with programs that will make drum rhythms and create CDs. ![]() ![]()
