Lessons are offered at beginner and intermediate
levels. Some advanced lessons are offered in the area of performance and
skills for the working drummer.
It is widely known that people learn in different
ways. As a teacher I identify and use the strengths of a student to help
him/her learn. That means each student has a lesson plan made especially
for him/her. If a student learns from visualization, he/she will benefit
from watching and using video resources. If another student learns well
from math, explaining the number system behind music would aid him/her. No
matter what the strength of the student may be, there is a way
to learn in that strength. Students will be shown what their
learning strengths are so they may apply that knowledge to drumming and
personal growth.
Playing drums isn't just a science; it's an art. For a student to
fully grasp any form of art they must relate to it. Listening to and
learning from music that a student enjoys is the best way to
achieve this. Students are encouraged to bring their music to the lesson.
In turn students will be exposed to different musical styles such as,
rock, funk, blues, R&B, jazz and swing. Ultimately, we don't play
drums; we play music on the drums.
